Nike Tawa- A Shoe Like You’ve Never Seen Before

The Nike Tawa is a brand-new addition to the Nike Wrestling line. Headlining their 2020 string of products, the Tawa is a completely original design that the wrestling world has never seen before. At WrestlingMart we tried our best to decipher what the meaning of “Tawa” could be, and we came up with a few theories which frankly don’t make too much sense. It’s either based on the Tawa frying pans found in India so that you can “burn up the competition”; or perhaps it’s a really cool acronym such as Technically Advanced Wrestling Accoutrements. While we don’t think either of these are correct, we gave it our best effort. While we don’t know the origins of the name, we do know that the Nike Tawa will make an instant splash on the 2020 wrestling season. Composed of modern materials creating a completely unique wrestling experience, the Tawa offers an extremely breathable and lightweight boot. The upper provides a seamless sock-like fit which Nike attributes to a zonal stretch and lockout system which provides support in every range of motion. Nike also implemented flyknit, exoskeleton-like support, and strategically placed ventilation zones. All of which allow the Tawa to be extremely comfortable, flexible, supportive, and breathable. The Tawa is also the first wrestling shoe to ever be implemented with Nike flyknit which has been a staple in Nike’s cleat and running shoe lines. The high tenacity yarns and engineered structures create possibly the most mobile and cool, both literally and figuratively, wrestling shoe ever. The seamless fitting upper blends into a well-constructed exoskeleton midsole and thick rubber traction pads. The bottom of the Tawa is a wrapping split-sole design that features two rubber pads that wrap up high on the sides, heel, and toes, allowing for maximum traction in extreme angles. Whether you are driving up from the bottom position, blasting your opponent off your feet, or upside down in some funky shot defense, you’ll have traction in every scenario. Nike added the perfect finishing touch to their new wrestling poster child with a simple lace garage system that effectively holds your laces while not creating any bulky lumps or uncomfortable pressure on the tongue. The garage keeps the laces out of the way and guarantees you won’t be tripping over your laces.

Having produced wrestling shoes for almost 50 years, Nike has had their roots entrenched in wrestling. Nike’s first ever signature shoe was named after an Olympic gold medalist himself. Before there were signature shoes made for Kobe, Lebron James, Serena Williams, and Bo Jackson, there were the Wayne Wells wrestling shoes. Once again Nike is making history with one of their most anticipated wrestling shoes to date. The Nike Tawa phenomenon is a wrestling experience that you don’t want to miss out on.

Q&A

Hi, I'm interested in grabbing a pair of the Nike Tawas but I'm uncertain as I'm usually between a size 8 or 7.5. With most of the Asics wrestling shoes I'm about an 8, but with Adidas I'm usually a 7.5. I do like quite a snug fit. What do you guys recommend? Thanks!

We would suggest a size 8. Theses shoes are running about half a size small.
