The David Taylor Edition Mat Wizard is …well…magical. Adidas teamed up with the “Magic Man” himself to develop a near perfect wrestling shoe. David Taylor was a 4-time NCAA All American and 2-time NCAA Champion while competing for Penn State, and currently is training for the next Olympics. The shoe’s design strikes a masterful blend of simplicity, style, performance, and comfort. It features a breathable mesh upper with TPU strips for additional support. The entire shoe fits like a sock, and has form-fitting flexibility providing unmatched comfort. The real standout feature of the DT Mat Wizard is the new one-piece, molded outsole designed for optimum grip and flexibility with every move.
Very comfortable. Good grip. Easy to put on and off. Good threading. Good value.
I ordered the shoes on a Saturday and got them on Monday! They fit perfectly and look and feel great (coming from a 4 year college wrestler). Definitely will shop here again when I need another pair of shoes!
Adidas wrestling shoes are a great fit and are wear well for wrestling. These shoes are so comfortable around the toes and they have such an amazing choice of styles and colors for men, women and youth.
These shoes feel really great. The material is very durable. The full sole feels nice and grippy. They don't feel like they will give out soon. The shoes look very nice.
stylish, good looking wrestling shoes. Grip very well to the mat, and are very light shoes. Best wrestling shoes I've ever purchased
What are the ankle suport like on these shoes? In general, what shoes would you say have the best ankle suppport?
The ankle support is really good with the Mat Wizards. Another good option would be the Adidas Pretereo and the Adidas AdiZero Varner 2. They have a higher upper sole to make sure the ankle is well and supported.

I wear a size 11.5 in most sneakers, and 12 if they run big. I want a nice snug fit with these. Should I get 12?
If you are looking for a snug fit, it will be good to stay with the 11.5

Are these shoe sizes comparable to a regular shoe size or sneaker?
Its recommended to go up half a size when ordering wrestling shoes. So if they are wearing a size 8 in street shoes, you would go with an 8.5 in wrestling shoe.

Does this have railing/bar grip
I asked around the office and nobody knew of a wrestling shoe with railing or bar grip. What exactly did you mean by this? : )

Should you go down half a size down in this particular wrestling shoe? I heard from numerous sources that they fit kinda long, so I don't know what size to get.
They do run a little long for some people. We just had a customer in who had to go down 1/2 size for this shoe. That being said, some customers find this shoe is very true to size depending on the width of your foot.

Why do the new mat wizards not have the design under the mesh like they used to?
Adidas is constantly changing their shoes to ensure they are defect free and the coolest on the market. Very good eye : ) You've pointed out a change in Adidas's shoes over the past year of Mat Wizards.

Does this shoe have something to cover the laces where they are tied?
The Adidas Mat Wizards do not have a lace garage or Velcro strap to keep your laces tied. You can tape your laces with standard 100% cotton tape to keep them from getting untied in match. If you are looking for a shoe with similar grip as the Adidas Mat Wizard but with a lace garage, we highly recommend the ASICS Aggressor. Let us know if you have any more questions : )
